Edward rolled his eyes about the drinks. However, oblivious to the perverted thoughts behind getting Ed drunk -- he assumed it was just Roy being himself, trying to get back at him for kicking his ass so he could tease him later. It was unfortunate that every time Edward drank, his automail leg served nothing but a reminder that he was a lightweight. Slightly shorter than average, and missing a leg. The prodigy did not hold any alcohol very well. He took another sip of his beer, about a quarter through it already.
And languages, Ed apparently had also picked up Xingese. It was likely no surprise the man would become fluent despite a short time being there. "English is not always a common language in Xing. It was frustrating, for the first few months..." He rolled his eyes, leaning back in the chair as he leaned an arm over the back of the chair. "Ling, being emperor, was not always able to.. assist," And quite frankly Edward didn't always want the man helping because he could be bounce off the walls hyper. "The text, most are in Xingese, or the ancient dialect. It's fascinating." He drank more of the beer.
"Martial arts though, of course. I had to," He shrugged. "I would have gotten my ass kicked! Like you did." Smirk. "...well, more often anyway," Leave it to Ed to still be picking fights where he probably shouldn't. "But it pays to be... friends," It was almost like that word got stuck in his throat, "I guess, with the Emperor of Xing. Ran Fan and Mei-ling were happy to teach, sometimes Alphonse accompanied so he has learned a fair bit as well."
